It is a somewhat atypical journey that has led Vincent Thomas into conducting.
A CNSM of Lyon graduate, he also has a master degree in musicology and it is in a natural way that he goes into teaching. A Bernard Tetu pupil, he also orientates his work towards conducting with Gilbert Amy, Rolf Reuter or during trainings on productions in the Geneva, Lyon and Nice Operas.
This wealth of diversity and his taste for voices result with success into directing masterpieces such as Missa di Gloria of Puccini, The Stabat Mater of Rossini, The Mozart Requiem as well as Didon And Enee of Purcell. In 1999 he conducts the orchestra of the Hospices Civils of Lyon, discovering then the symphonic classics.
His career then take a run-up and he is invited to conduct the Camerata of Burgundy orchestra (Buxtehude in 2005, Mozart/ Haydn in 2006, Orff in 2008) and the Villefranche sur Saône orchestra (in 2007 and 2009). Finally, invited conductor since 2001 at the Orchestrades de Brive la Gaillarde, he conducts in a world first the Suite La of Piotr Moss in 2007 and the very next year becomes artistic director at this international festival.
Vincent THOMAS
Chef d'orchestre/Conductor
introduction
Doted with a very expressive body language, Vincent THOMAS has caught the eye for his musicality and his way to transmit it to orchestras. If he follows with conducting it is for this taste of sharing; his charisma, his welcoming rigor have no equal but his immense patience. Praising these very qualities, his last encounters have encouraged him to follow this path: Amel Brahim-Djelloul, Piotr Moss and last but not least Désiré Dondeyne (for whom he created on June 14th 2009 at the Lyon auditorium the Messe pour le temps pascal et Alleluia) support him in his various projects.
